For the first time, a summit is going to be held in Saudi Arabia regarding the Israeli attack in Gaza. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived on Saturday (November 11) to participate in it. State-affiliated media reported it was his first visit since Iran agreed in March to restore Arab ties. The emergency meeting of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) comes after Hamas attacks on October 7, which Israeli officials say killed about 1,200 people and took 240 hostages. According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, more than 11,000 people, mostly civilians and children, have been killed in Israeli air and ground attacks.

In view of the devastation caused by continuous Israeli attacks in Gaza, Middle East leaders have called for a ceasefire, warning of the dangers of conflict in other countries. Raisi on Saturday blamed Washington’s staunch support for Israel for this threat. Let us tell you that America has not only supported the action against Hamas terrorists, but has also given major defense assistance to Israel. Before leaving for Riyadh, the Iranian President said that the war machine in Gaza belongs to America.

increasing scope of war

Ibrahim Raisi said that America did not allow ceasefire in Gaza. Because of this, the scope of the war has increased.” Footage broadcast on Al-Ekhbariya channel showed Raisi greeting Saudi officials at the airport after landing from his plane. He was wearing a traditional Palestinian keffiyeh scarf. Let us tell you that Sunni-majority Saudi Arabia and Shia-majority Iran broke relations in 2016 after Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran were attacked during protests over the execution of Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr by Riyadh. But in March, the longtime rivals agreed to restore diplomatic ties and reopen their embassies following a deal brokered by China.

Iran and Saudi Arabia have for years supported opposing sides in conflict zones across the Middle East, including Yemen, where Riyadh in 2015 mobilized an international coalition against Iran-backed Houthi rebels and who last year launched an international crackdown. The recognized government was overthrown.
