The heat of war from Ukraine reached UN

Russia Ukraine War News: The war continues between Russia and Ukraine. This war has now reached the United Nations. Russia and Western countries have clashed in the United Nations Security Council meeting over the attack on Ukraine. Russia on Monday accused Western countries of breaking agreements that could have prevented war in Ukraine. At the same time, America and its allies directly blamed Moscow, saying that there is no doubt that President Vladimir Putin had ordered the attack on its small neighboring country.

A few days before the second anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Russia’s Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzia once again cited the failure to implement the 2015 Minsk Agreement as the reason for the war. For this he blamed Ukraine’s activities supported by Western countries. The agreement was aimed at ending the conflict between Ukraine and Russia-backed separatists that followed Russia’s annexation of Crimea in April 2014 and its support for separatists in the mostly Russian-speaking industrial Donbass region.

Know why Russia called UN meeting?

Russia called a Security Council meeting on Monday to mark the seventh anniversary of the signing of the Minsk peace accords brokered by France and Germany. At the meeting, Nebenzia described the claims of Ukraine and Western countries about Russia’s refusal to implement the agreement as completely baseless. Nebenzia said that if the Minsk agreements had been implemented, the tragedy that occurred in Ukraine today would not have happened. A tragedy for which America and all Western countries are responsible. They try to achieve their geopolitical objectives at the expense of Ukraine and its citizens.

Russia accused of violating UN Charter

Meanwhile, US Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood accused Russia of spreading ‘significant myths and misinformation’ in its efforts to rewrite history after attacking a sovereign nation in violation of the UN Charter. Wood told the council that Russia had signed the Minsk agreements but “ignored all the commitments in it”. James Kariuki, Britain’s deputy ambassador to the United Nations, said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine showed the world that Putin “was never interested in peace.”

The war started on 24 February 2022

It is noteworthy that the war between Russia and Ukraine started on 24 February 2022. In the initial phase, Russia caused massive destruction in many cities of Ukraine. However, later America and Western countries started providing military and economic help to Ukraine. After this, Ukraine also started retaliating. Ukraine foiled several Russian missile and drone attacks. This war will complete two years on 24th February. But till now no solution to the war seems to be emerging.
