Now the wait for elections in Pakistan is over. The Election Commission of Pakistan has released the detailed schedule of the General Assembly elections to be held in February next year. As soon as the complete schedule of elections was released, all the political parties of Pakistan have become active. Meanwhile, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is still behind bars. There are still clouds of doubt over his party and his chances of contesting the elections. The schedule of general elections for February 8 was released in Pakistan, hours after the Supreme Court rejected the decision of the lower court which could delay the general elections.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) released the election schedule on Friday night. Hours earlier, the Supreme Court had struck down the Lahore High Court (HHC) decision to stay the Election Commission’s decision to appoint bureaucrats as returning officers for the general elections. As per the notification of ECP, candidates can file nomination from December 20 to December 22.

Here is the main program

The names of the candidates who filed nominations from December 20 to 22 will be published on December 23 and their documents will be scrutinized from December 24 to December 30. The last date for filing appeal against the decision of the returning officer in rejecting or accepting the nomination papers will be January 3 and the last date for deciding the appeal of the candidates by the Appellate Tribunal will be January 10. The revised list of candidates will be published on January 11 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is January 12. Voting will take place on February 8. (Language)
