Washington: US President Joe Biden has given a big statement on Russia’s claim of making anti-satellite. Joe Biden said on Friday that there is no indication that Russia has decided to deploy an anti-satellite weapon being developed. The White House has confirmed that US intelligence officials have information that Russia has acquired such a capability, although no such weapon has yet been deployed operationally.
Biden said on Friday that “there is no evidence that they (Russia) have decided to do anything in space.” The President stressed that at present there is no danger to the people. “What Russia is doing right now poses no nuclear threat to the United States or people anywhere in the world,” Biden told reporters at the White House during remarks over the alleged death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
Biden spoke on Russia’s capability
Biden said the capabilities Russia has acquired are “related to satellites and space” and that those capabilities “could theoretically do something that could be harmful.” Biden said Russia has not yet moved forward with its plans and “I hope it will not.” The news came after Mike Turner, chairman of Parliament’s Intelligence Committee and Republican MP from Ohio, urged Biden this week to make public information related to a “serious national security threat”.
