Russia President Election Date: The date of election for the post of President in Russia has been announced. According to the information, Russian MPs have fixed March 17, 2024 as the date for holding presidential elections in the country, paving the way for President Vladimir Putin to contest elections for the fifth time. These will be the first elections since a 2020 constitutional amendment imposed a two-term presidential limit, but not retroactively, thus allowing Putin to run in 2024 and even 2030.

Putin has served as the country’s president longer than any other Russian ruler since Joseph Stalin. Before this, Leonid Brezhnev had been the President of Russia for 18 years, but Putin left him behind too. Putin turned 71 on October 7.

Putin was once an intelligence spy

Vladimir Putin was born on 7 October 1952 in Leningrad, Soviet Union, to Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Maria Ivanovna. He was the third child of his parents. His two elder brothers died of illness in childhood. This Putin went on to become a spy of the intelligence agency KGB and then the President of Russia.

Putin, who has announced that he will decide whether he will run for a fifth term after the elections are formally called—though sources indicate he will. His chosen successor at the end of his first presidential term (2000–08) was Dmitry Medvedev.
