Malala Yousafzai: Ever since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, ‘gender discrimination’ towards women has increased significantly. Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has expressed her anger at Taliban regarding this. She said the international community should combat the Taliban’s ‘gender discrimination’ against women. Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai said that the whole world needs to pay attention and combat the ‘gender discrimination’ that the Taliban has started against women and girls after taking power in Afghanistan. The 26-year-old Malala spoke to ‘The Associated Press’ after delivering the ‘Annual Nelson Mandela’ Lecture in Johannesburg on the death anniversary of Nelson Mandela, the renowned leader who awakened the flame against apartheid in South Africa. Malala dedicated her speech to the women and girls of Afghanistan.

Malala said, ‘When I was shot in the head, the whole world stood with me. When will the world stand with the girls in Afghanistan? Malala further said that ever since the Taliban government took over Afghanistan, Afghanistan has seen only bad days. It has been at least two and a half years and most of the girls have not seen school. Yousafzai appealed to the UN to ‘recognise the current situation in Afghanistan as gender discrimination’ and cited reports that women were being detained, jailed and beaten. The marriage is being forced.

Appealed to end the bad times in Afghanistan

Malala on Tuesday urged the international community to take collective and immediate action to end the “evil times” in Afghanistan. Malala was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 at the age of 17 for speaking up for girls’ education in her home country Pakistan. She is the youngest person to receive the Nobel Prize. Malala was shot in the head by terrorists who entered her school bus to raise her voice for girls’ education.
