Saudi Arabia Yoga News: Fundamentalists from Muslim countries are not so supportive of Indian yoga. But Saudi Arabia, considered the largest Muslim country, is now becoming ‘liberal’. Yoga competition has been organized in Mecca, the holy city of Muslim countries. This Yoga Championship was organized by Komakka on 27 January. The 2nd Saudi Open Yogasana Championship was organized by Al-Wehda Saudi Club. A large number of boys and girls participated in it and did yoga. Not only this, children who performed excellent yoga were honored with awards. A large number of people were present to watch this championship. He also praised the participants after watching the yoga asanas.

Participants from different cities of Saudi Arabia took part

While in many Muslim countries of the world people from right wing groups have been opposing Yoga, but in Saudi it was organized with success. 10 boys and 54 girls from different cities of Saudi participated in this championship. Consul General of India Mohammad Shahid Alam, who arrived at the championship, said, we are very happy that since 2017, yoga has been recognized as a sports activity in Saudi Arabia and the Saudi Yoga Committee has continuously organized programs on yoga. This has increased its popularity among the common people.

Yoga’s popularity is increasing in Saudi

The successful conduct of the Yoga Asana Championship reflects the growing popularity of yoga in Saudi Arabia. Apart from Mecca, participants from Jeddah, Medina, Taif and other cities of the country also reached this championship. The event was held under the auspices of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports, indicating official recognition of yoga as a legitimate sporting activity. Saudi Yoga Committee Chairman Nouf Al-Marwai himself was present at the event. Yoga was officially permitted in Saudi in November 2017. This led to the formation of the Saudi Yoga Committee in May 2021, which was later recognized as the new Saudi Yoga Federation.
