There was not even one song in this Rajesh Khanna starrer film

If you are a movie buff, then it is obvious that you will go to the cinema hall to enjoy movies and popcorn. As soon as the interval comes, the audience leaves their seats and gets up to get popcorn and snacks. But, what if there is no interval in a movie? Yes, there are some movies which were released on the big screen without an interval. But do you know about the first Hindi movie which had neither an interval nor a song? If not, then let us tell you about this movie.

The first Hindi film without interval and without songs

The film we are talking about here is ‘Ittefaq’ which was released in the year 1969. This Rajesh Khanna starrer had neither any song nor any interval and this 1 hour 40 minutes long film was also given to the superstar by ‘Ittefaq’. Because, earlier Vinod Khanna was going to be the hero of this film. But, Vinod Khanna refused to do this film and this way this film fell in Rajesh Khanna’s lap and proved to be the third consecutive hit of his career.

When Saira Bano’s health deteriorated

This is the story of the time when Yash Chopra was making ‘Aadmi Aur Insaan’. The film had actors like Dharmendra, Feroz Khan, Saira Bano and Mumtaz. The shooting of the film was going on on a very large scale. But, in the meantime, Saira Bano’s health suddenly deteriorated. Due to this, the shooting of the film also stopped. The makers somehow convinced the actors of the film and the dates were changed, but the technicians sat idle. In this situation, the Chopra brothers got an idea and decided to make a film in a hurry.

‘Ittefaq’ made by coincidence

While the search for the story of the film was going on, Yash Chopra saw a Gujarati play ‘Dhummas’. He liked this play very much and he went to see this play again with BR Chopra and the story department. Everyone liked the story of the film. It was revealed that the play is based on the English film ‘Signpost to Murder’. By then Yash Chopra had decided to make a film on it. He prepared the script of the film in 1 week and then shot it in 28 days.

Rajesh Khanna-Nanda’s pair became a hit

In Ittefaq, Nanda’s pairing with Rajesh Khanna worked well and both of them forced the fans to clap in the theatres with their acting. This film was important, special and different in many ways. After this film, Yash Chopra laid the foundation of his own company Yash Raj Films and then he also made his first film ‘Daag’ with Rajesh Khanna, which proved to be a big hit.
