This time Delhi University has increased the annual fees by 46 percent. After this the amount will increase to Rs 2350 for all categories. What is the possible reason?

According to media reports, some teachers say that this fee has been increased to repay the loan of Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA). He says that efforts are being made to repay the HEFA loan with the help of student funds, hence the fees have been increased. Higher Education Financing Agency has given a loan of Rs 930 crore to Delhi University.

In an official circular issued on June 7, it was said that the university has reduced the fees charged for various facilities and services to Rs 1000 from the academic year 2023-24. Along with this, the charges of Student Welfare Fund have been doubled to Rs 200. The development fund charge was increased by 10 percent and compared to last year when it was Rs 900, it was increased by Rs 100 and it has been made Rs 1000.

Fees increased for the second time

Economically Disadvantaged Section Support University Fund has been increased to Rs 150 in the coming academic year. This is the second fee hike of the year. For the first time in the last 13 years, the fees were increased in June-July and now they have been increased for the second time. The annual charges of University Development Fund were increased from Rs 600 to Rs 900 in the year 2022.
