New Delhi: James Cameron and Jon Landau have made plans to cash in on the success of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ by announcing not one but three sequels to the blockbuster ‘Avatar’. The shooting of ‘Avatar 3’ (tentative name), the third installment of the superhit franchise, has already been completed. Now the post production work of this film is going on. Now James Cameron has shared information regarding the release of the film.
When will ‘Avatar 3’ be released?
James Cameron, speaking on a TV New Zealand programme, said, “We’re very busy with two years of post-production right now, so the film will be in cinemas ‘Christmas 2025’.” Cameron promised to film all his future projects in New Zealand. He also told that he is planning to become a citizen there in the coming years.
Why is ‘Avatar 3’ special?
During the Critics’ Choice Awards, Cameron said such things about ‘Avatar 3’ that people have increased their excitement about it. He said it revealed the introduction of the fire element and the integration of two new cultures. Fire is designed to play a symbolic role linked to a specific culture in the film, although many details are deliberately kept secret.
Cameron said, “The fire will be represented by ‘Ash People’.” I want to show the Na’vi from another perspective because, so far, I’ve only shown their good sides. In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In ‘Avatar 3,’ we’ll do the opposite. We will also explore new worlds while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best.
Who will be the actors in the film?
Key actors reprising their Na’vi roles include Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and others. Kate Winslet has been hinted to return as Ronald, and Britten will play Dalton’s folkloric narrator. New roles include Michelle Yeoh as Dr. Karina Mog, Oona Chaplin as Na’vi Varang and David Thewlis as Peylak.
To prevent age-related challenges for the cast, Cameron strategically filmed scenes for ‘Avatar 3’ and its successor ‘The Way of Water’ simultaneously. This approach was adopted to ensure story continuity and prevent the young cast from aging during the production hiatus, a lesson learned from Netflix’s Stranger Things.
