Union Minister and BJP MP from Amethi Smriti Irani has again attacked the speculations of Congress MP and former party president Rahul Gandhi contesting the Lok Sabha elections on two seats. He said that those who say that Amethi is the stronghold of the Gandhi family, why are they taking so much time to declare their candidates? His lack of confidence shows that Amethi is no longer a Congress stronghold. The Union Minister said that if he is contesting on two seats, it means that he is announcing his defeat from Amethi even before the elections. I had said that if their leader has courage, then why doesn’t he contest the elections from Amethi alone without the support of Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav. Then milk will become milk and water will become water.
“Don’t have the courage to declare a candidate”
Earlier, Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani had said on Wednesday that this party is not able to muster the courage to declare its candidate from Amethi, which shows that they are afraid of defeat. He said, “At present I do not know who will contest the elections, but the way Congress people are not able to muster the courage to declare a candidate from here, it seems that they are afraid of the power of Amethi and the fear of defeat. This is a clear indication of their defeat.”
Smriti Irani said- I am among the workers
Pointing towards Rahul Gandhi, who was the Congress MP from Amethi for a long time, she said, “I came into Amethi politics in 2014, but I lost the elections to the Naamdars. I am among the workers. I serve the people of Amethi.” And BJP gave me a chance to serve here for the second time in 2019 and Amethi accepted me and won the elections.” Irani claimed, ”In the last five years, houses were provided to one lakh families, tap water to four lakh families, Two and a half lakh families were given LPG connections, three lakh families were given the benefit of Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.” He said, ”The medical college in the name of which famous people have been cheating Amethi for the last 30 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has Worked on opening that medical college also.”
Will Rahul Gandhi contest elections from Amethi?
It is noteworthy that discussions about Rahul Gandhi once again contesting elections from Amethi Lok Sabha seat have intensified. According to Congress Amethi unit President Pradeep Singhal, Rahul Gandhi will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Amethi. Congress District President Pradeep Singhal, who returned after the important meeting in New Delhi, said on Wednesday that Rahul Gandhi will be the Congress candidate from Amethi, the announcement of which will be made soon. Preparations for the elections have been started. The workers are preparing to fulfill their respective responsibilities. Rahul Gandhi was MP from Amethi from 2004 to 2019. In the 2019 elections, he lost the election to BJP candidate Smriti Irani. Rahul had also last contested the elections from Wayanad seat in Kerala, from where he is currently the MP.
