A day before the start of the yatra, party general secretary Jairam Ramesh, while targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party, said that today the country is facing the challenge of an ideology which believes in polarization, making the rich richer and political dictatorship. This is not an election or political journey – Congress
Congress says that ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ is not an election journey, but to demand justice for the country. The journey will pass through these states
‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ will pass through Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. This visit is being considered politically important in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Lok Sabha elections are likely to be held in April-May next year. In the Congress Working Committee meeting held on December 21, party leaders had stressed that Rahul Gandhi should undertake the second phase of the journey from east to west. After this the journey has been announced.
If conditions are not followed then permission to travel will be canceled – Manipur Government
The Manipur government has imposed restrictions on the program of Congress’ ‘Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’ to be launched from Thobal district on January 14, saying that the program should not last more than one hour and the maximum number of participants should be 3,000. . The Thobal Deputy Commissioner’s office had issued the permission order on January 11 and the party shared it with reporters on Saturday, a day before the yatra.
The permission order states that the program should not exceed one hour as the venue is adjacent to the National Highway and traffic will have to be diverted to alternative routes. It says that the maximum number of participants in the program should be limited to 3,000. Congress has changed the venue from Imphal Palace Ground to a private ground in Thobal. Earlier, the BJP-led N Biren Singh government had given conditional approval to start the Yatra from the Palace Ground in Imphal by limiting the number of people to 1,000.
