CM Naveen Patnaik congratulated

State Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated the people of the state for this achievement. He wrote on social media platform This age-old sophisticated art of the silver city of Cuttack gives a distinct identity to our state due to its intricate workmanship. I convey my best wishes to the people of Odisha, especially Cuttack and the district administration on this occasion.” Officials said that during Durga Puja, artisans of Cuttack make tableaux with the help of intricate silver tarkashi.

Why is getting GI tag special?

Let us tell you that Geographical Indication (GI Tag) is mainly given to link a product with its region of origin. After getting GI tag the specialty of that product increases. In simple words, GI tag is given to a product which is made only at a particular place and that product is associated with regional speciality. After getting GI tag, these products are also provided protection from law. This means that no other product can be brought in the market with the same name. Along with this, GI tag also means that the quality of that area is good. These GI tagged products are also made available to global markets.
