Decision taken on seat sharing in Assam, BJP will contest elections on so many seats out of 14 – India TV Hindi

The time for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections is slowly approaching. The election dates will be announced soon by the Election Commission. All national and regional parties have started their preparations for this election. In this sequence, Bharatiya Janata Party has also announced the seat sharing formula for 14 Lok Sabha seats of Assam. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma on Thursday informed that an agreement has been reached between the BJP and its allies regarding seat sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state. BJP will contest elections on 11 seats

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma on Thursday said that as per the agreement on seat sharing, BJP will contest elections on 11 seats in Assam. At the same time, its allies Assam Gana Parishad will contest on 2 seats and United People’s Party Liberal will contest on 1 seat. Assam Gana Parishad has got Barpeta and Dhubri, while United People’s Party Liberal has got Kokrajhar seat. CM Himanta said that NDA allies will support each other’s candidates in all 14 constituencies.

This is how the seat sharing formula was made

Assam CM Himanta has said that Assam BJP President Bhabesh Kalita and I have held a meeting with our National President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and our National General Secretary BL Santosh. Himanta said that UPPL had requested for the Kokrajhar seat, to which the BJP agreed. At the same time, AGP, which has its base across the state, wanted more seats. Himanta said that after informing the central leadership of BJP about the request, AGP has agreed to 2 seats.

Claim to win 11 seats

Assam CM Himanta Vishwa Sharma has said that he is hopeful of winning 11 out of the total 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Let us tell you that at present 9 out of 14 MPs in the state belong to BJP. At the same time, Congress Party has 3 Lok Sabha seats and AIUDF has 3 seats. While one seat is with an independent candidate. (input language)
