ED officer caught red handed taking bribe in Tamil Nadu, arrested

Chennai: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has arrested an officer from the office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Tamil Nadu. DVAC has arrested the ED officer on charges of taking bribe. The ED officer is accused of taking a bribe of Rs 20 lakh. Now the investigation is being conducted by DVAC at the sub-regional ED office in Madurai. Let us tell you that even before this, ED officials have been arrested in the case of taking bribe. Recently, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) team also arrested an ED officer. In this case, ACB had arrested an ED officer while taking a bribe of Rs 15 lakh from a complainant.

Accused of taking bribe of Rs 20 lakh

An Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer has been arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from a government employee. This information was given by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Friday. In fact, after being detained in Dindigul, a team of DVAC officials conducted the investigation at the sub-regional ED office in Madurai. During this time, state policemen were deployed outside the central government office. An official release from DVAC identified the arrested officer as Ankit Tiwari. He is working as an enforcement officer in the Madurai Enforcement Department office of the Central Government.

Officer arrested in bribery case earlier too

Even before this, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) team had arrested an Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer posted in Manipur and his associate red handed for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15 lakh from the complainant. Officials said that the accused officer was demanding Rs 17 lakh from the accused for not arresting him in the chit fund case. According to the ACB statement, those arrested included Enforcement Officer (EO) of ED’s Imphal office Naval Kishore Meena and his local associate Babulal Meena. The ED in a statement said it has suspended Naval Kishore and initiated a money laundering investigation against him and the other accused.
