Preparations are going on in full swing in the country for the Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission has also started preparations for the elections. In such a situation, it seems that soon the Commission will also announce the dates of elections. Meanwhile, the Chief Election Commissioner has given a big statement regarding the upcoming elections in view of the election violence in West Bengal. In the wake of Bengal election violence, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said on Tuesday that any kind of violence will not be tolerated in the state during the Lok Sabha elections.

Instructions to provide equal opportunity

He has instructed the administration of West Bengal to provide level playing field to all political parties. The aim of the Election Commission is to conduct free, fair and violence-free elections in the state. He further said, “There is no room for fear or intimidation in the elections. We have also made it clear that the partisan attitude of the administration during the elections will not be tolerated at all.” Kumar said adequate central forces will be deployed in West Bengal in an impartial manner. He also said that Superintendents of Police have been repeatedly told that if any complaint of intimidation comes, they should take immediate action.

Officials instructed to remain impartial

“The state administration has assured us that they will do the same. If they don’t take action, we know what we need to do to make them take action,” Kumar said. Police officers have been instructed to remain impartial and available to all political parties at the district level.
