Emphasis on strengthening local intelligence in Jammu and Kashmir, review meeting held in Delhi

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently held a review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the terrorist attacks there. In this meeting, the need to strengthen local intelligence was emphasized. During the meeting, Amit Shah reviewed the Area Domination Plan of security agencies to end terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. He advised security agencies for proper deployment in sensitive areas. He talked about the continuation of the policy of zero tolerance against terrorism by the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also said that all due procedures should be adopted while dealing with terrorists.

Five soldiers were martyred in terrorist attack in Poonch district

A fortnight ago, five soldiers were martyred in an ambush by terrorists in Poonch district. The army had reportedly taken three civilians for questioning a day after the December 21 terrorist attack. The three men, aged between 21 and 42, were later found dead, sparking public outrage. In view of these incidents, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Army Chief General Manoj Pandey had visited Poonch.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army Chief Pandey and top officials of intelligence and other security agencies attended the meeting called by the Union Home Minister on Tuesday.

Information given to the Home Minister about the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir

An official said, “The Home Minister has been briefed about the current security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.” Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir administration announced compensation and jobs for the families of the deceased civilians, saying that The process of legal action has been started in this matter. Sporadic violence has continued in Jammu and Kashmir since the beginning of 2023. Officials have attributed the increase in violence to ‘desperate efforts from across the border’ to revive terrorism in the region. (input language)
