Farmers’ march begins in Delhi, what are the farmers angry about, what are their demands – India TV Hindi

Delhi: The protesting farmers have started their ‘Delhi Chalo’ march today to put pressure on the central government to meet their demands. The most important of these demands of the farmers is the enactment of a law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops – a vital lifeline for farmers facing market uncertainties. Other major points of farmers’ anger include the repeal of the Electricity Act 2020, compensation for the farmers killed in Lakhimpur Kheri and withdrawal of cases against those involved in the farmers’ agitation, among other issues.

The farmers also held talks with the Central Government on Monday midnight and after that a consensus was reached on these issues, but the farmers are firm on their resolve. He said that the promises made by the government two years ago have also not been fulfilled. All these promises will have to be fulfilled.

Farmers are adamant on their demands

After the meeting with the government ministers, it has been said on behalf of the farmers that the government’s desire to withdraw the cases registered against the farmers during the agitation of the year 2020-21 was revealed, this was also discussed. However, farmers insist on legal guarantee for MSP, which tops their demands.

Farmer leaders like Jagjit Singh Dallewal of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Sarwan Singh Pandher of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti have expressed doubts about the government’s commitment to meet all their demands. Let us tell you that the government has proposed to constitute a committee to deliberate on MSP, loan waiver and legal guarantees for the implementation of the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission. Apart from all this, the farmers’ demands include several issues including restoration of the Land Acquisition Act 2013, withdrawal from the World Trade Organization and compensation for the families of farmers killed during the previous agitation.
