Bhubaneswar: Before the Lok Sabha elections, Biju Janata Dal has once again suffered a setback in Odisha. Five-time MLA Arabinda Dhali resigned from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday. Along with resigning, he said that he will join the opposition BJP. Let us inform that Arabind Dhali, MLA from Jaidev area of Khordha district, said that he has sent his resignation to BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through email. However, he did not give any reason for his resignation.

Won elections for the first time from BJP

Let us tell you that Arabinda Dhali was elected to the Assembly for the first time in 1992 from Malkangiri seat in the by-election on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He retained this seat for two consecutive terms. He then joined BJD and was elected to the Assembly from Jaydev constituency in 2009. He also won the 2019 elections from this seat. He was the Minister of Transport and Corporation in the Patnaik government.

Many leaders have resigned

Even before this, many leaders have resigned from Biju Janata Dal. MLAs Pradeep Panigrahi and Prashant Jagdev, who were expelled from BJD last month, have also joined BJP. Recently, BJD leader and former Minister of State Debasis Nayak had also changed sides. Let us tell you that Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are to be held simultaneously in the state. The resignation of such leaders from BJD is being considered as big shocks one after the other.

Elections will be held soon

On the other hand, the process of joining leaders of various parties in Bharatiya Janata Party is continuing. Recently many stalwarts of parties like Congress and RJD have taken membership of Bharatiya Janata Party. Let us tell you that there are not many days left for the Lok Sabha elections. The dates of Lok Sabha elections can be announced by the Election Commission at any time. In such a situation, resignation of party leaders in this manner is making them weak in the upcoming elections.
