The Central Government has made a big announcement of giving Bharat Ratna to former Chief Minister of Bihar and socialist leader Karpoori Thakur. According to the information given by Rashtrapati Bhavan, late Chief Minister of Bihar Karpuri Thakur will be given Bharat Ratna (posthumously). Karpoori Thakur was the former Chief Minister of Bihar and was known for advocating the interests of backward classes.

Karpuri Thakur was famous by the name Jannayak
Karpoori Thakur was famous as ‘Jannanayak’. He was the Chief Minister of Bihar from December 1970 to June 1971 and from December 1977 to April 1979. He died on February 17, 1988. Karpoori Thakur was a great leader of Bihar in his time. Socialist leader Karpoori Thakur is remembered as the voice of the oppressed and the deprived. Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav had many times demanded to give Bharat Ratna to Karpoori Thakur. After former President Rajendra Prasad, Karpoori Thakur is probably the second leader to receive the Bharat Ratna.
