Lakhbir Singh Landa declared terrorist
The Home Ministry has declared Canada-based gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa as a terrorist. According to details given by the ministry, 33-year-old gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa belongs to Khalistani group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and was involved in planning the rocket attack on Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali in 2021. Landa’s name had cropped up in connection with the RPG attack on Sarhali police station in Tarn Taran in December 2022 as well as his involvement in other terrorist activities.

Who is Lakhbir Singh Landa?
Lakhbir Singh Landa is originally from Punjab, but has been living in Canada for the last few years. He has been involved in conspiring against India. Punjab Police had raided 48 locations linked to close associates of the Canada-based terrorist. The action came after a businessman was attacked by two assailants. The businessman had said that he received a call from someone who claimed to be Landa Harike and demanded Rs 15 lakh. Some people were also arrested after the raid.
Lakhbir Singh Landa, resident of Tarn Taran district, has been a thorn in the side of the police for the last 11 years. He fled to Canada in 2017 and has 18 cases registered against him. In Punjab, Tarn Taran Police had registered a case of ransom demand and smuggling of arms and drugs from across the border in the year 2022 against 11 people, including gangster-turned-politician Lakha Sidhana and Canada-based gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa. Tarn Taran police had registered this case on September 2 and did not let anyone know about it. The matter came to light when the supporters of the gangsters started making noise on social media calling it fake.
