Shimla: Himachal Pradesh’s oldest voter Ganga Devi died at her home in Kullu on Monday. Ganga Devi, a relative of BJP national president JP Nadda, was 104 years old. Ganga Devi was honored by the Election Commission as the oldest voter of the state in the 2022 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections. Family members said that Ganga Devi breathed her last at around 7 am at her residence in Shastri Nagar, Kullu. He said that Nadda and other family members reached Kullu, from where the mortal remains of Ganga Devi were taken to Bilaspur.
Nadda and his younger son lit the funeral pyre
The mortal remains of Ganga Devi were kept at the Shitala temple in Ohar in Bilaspur district so that people could pay their respects before cremation. Younger brother of Ganga Devi and JP Nadda Father of N. l. Nadda offered floral tribute to his elder sister. His last rites were performed at Ohr cremation ground on the banks of river Sutlej. JP. Nadda and his younger son Harish Nadda lit his funeral pyre.
Nadda reached Kullu after canceling the program
Let us tell you that Ganga Devi was the aunt of JP Nadda. Although the BJP President is busy these days due to the assembly elections in 5 states, but as soon as he got the news of his aunt’s death, he canceled all his programs and reached Kullu. Nadda said that aunt was a source of inspiration for all of us. He loved all the people of the society and had great interest in social work. Aunt Ganga Devi’s last wish was that her last rites should be performed in her native village.
Leader of opposition in the Assembly Jairam Thakur, state BJP chief Rajeev Bindal, former Chief Ministers Shanta Kumar and Prem Kumar Dhumal, party’s national vice president Saudan Singh, BJP state in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna and co-in-charge Sanjay Tandon expressed their condolences. Condolences have been expressed to the family.
