New Delhi: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Thursday ‘returned home’ and left the Congress and returned to the BJP. Let us tell you that after being upset over not getting a ticket in the assembly elections held in May last year, he had joined Congress, but he did not get much benefit from changing the party. He was present at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of Union Ministers Bhupendra Yadav and Rajiv Chandrashekhar, former Karnataka Chief Minister and party parliamentary board member BS Yediyurappa, chief spokesperson and media department in-charge Anil Baluni and party Karnataka unit president BY Vijayendra. Returned home.

Climbed the stairs of success in BJP

Jagadish Shettar, a six-time MLA from Hubli-Dharwad Central seat, is counted among the experienced leaders of the state. Shettar’s family has been associated with the party since the Jana Sangh days. He is considered an influential leader of Kittur Karnataka region. While in BJP, he served as Minister, Assembly Speaker, Leader of Opposition and Chief Minister. In the last assembly elections in Karnataka, top BJP leaders had urged 67-year-old Shettar not to contest the assembly elections to make way for others, and this had angered Shettar.

Shettar had lost the election to BJP candidate

Jagadish Shettar had then insisted that he wanted to contest the elections for the last time. When BJP did not give him the ticket despite all his efforts, he joined Congress. After joining Congress, Shettar had alleged that BJP had insulted him by not giving him ticket and the party was being run by only a few people. Congress had also made him its candidate from Hubli-Dharwad Central seat but he was defeated by the BJP candidate in the assembly elections. Now, just a few months after the assembly elections, he has once again joined BJP.
