New Delhi: There was an uproar in the Rajya Sabha when Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Chaudhary was speaking on the government’s decision to award Bharat Ratna to his grandfather and former Prime Minister of the country Chaudhary Charan Singh. During his speech, Jayant Chaudhary said that a grassroots government, which understands the voice of the land and wants to elevate it, such a government can give Bharat Ratna to the son of the soil Chaudhary Charan Singh ji. The opposition started creating ruckus during Jayant’s speech.
‘I am saddened by the misbehavior in the House’
Earlier, while speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Jayant Chaudhary said, ‘The Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi ji has decided to give Bharat Ratna to Chaudhary Charan Singh ji. This is a very big decision. Yesterday the echo of this decision reached every corner of the country and Diwali was celebrated in every village. Some members of the opposition started making noise during Jayant’s speech. After some uproar, when Jayant got a chance to speak, he said, ‘I am saddened by the misbehavior by the MPs during the House proceedings.’
‘Charan Singh’s glimpse in the working style of the government’
Praising the Modi government, Jayant Chaudhary said, ‘I have been in the opposition for 10 years. For some time I have been sitting on this side of the House (the ruling party). I have seen that in the last 10 years, the working style of this government (Modi government) also has a glimpse of Chaudhary Charan Singh. When the Prime Minister throws light on the problem of defecation in rural areas, when the Government of India spreads awareness in every village on women empowerment, then I remember Chaudhary Charan Singh ji’s quote in it.
‘Bharat Ratna is not an award, it is the biggest honour’
Jayant Choudhary said in his speech that Bharat Ratna is the biggest honour. He said, ‘Some people believe that Chaudhary Charan Singh was only a leader of Jats and advocated only for farmers, but it is not so. He was a thinker. The Bharat Ratna given to Chaudhary Charan Singh ji by the Government of India has accomplished two big things. First, a new curiosity has arisen among the students and youth about Chaudhary Charan Singh. Second, the government has boosted morale by awarding Bharat Ratna. Bharat Ratna is not just an award, it is the biggest honour.
