Aseem Das has made serious allegations against ED officials.
Mumbai: In the Mahadev Betting App case, ED had arrested an accused named Aseem Das with Rs 15 crore cash. Das has now written a 10-page letter to the ED director demanding re-investigation of his case. In his letter, Das has demanded an investigation against his arrest and the ED officers involved in the investigation. India TV has a copy of Das’s letter in which he has claimed that he is being framed by Subham Soni and ED officials. In the letter he has said that he is not a courier boy and has no connection with Baghel, Verma or any Congress party leader.
Das called Soni his childhood friend
Das wrote that Shubham Soni had recently gone from Dubai to Amsterdam or London, and he had told her in a meeting that his visa was going to expire soon. Soni said that his work was completed and on 5 November he left for London or Amsterdam. Das has described Soni as his childhood friend with whom he used to play cricket. Later Soni Mahadev became one of the key figures behind the app. On October 10, Das went to Dubai on Soni’s invitation, where Soni showed him the luxury lifestyle there to impress him. However, he did not meet Soni during this visit and he returned to India.
‘Sony had asked for financial help’
According to the letter, a few days later Soni called her, sent her a ticket for October 25 and once again called her to Dubai. This time Das met Soni who promised to help him in his construction business in Chhattisgarh. Soni assured him that he would get the money upon reaching Raipur airport. During the conversation, when he asked about the ED investigation related to Mahadev App, Soni alleged that Ravi Uppal and Chandrakar are the real promoters. Soni allegedly told him that they had bribed a senior official to settle the case. He advised Das to start his own construction business and also assured him of financial help as a friend.
‘The bike rider had brought a bag full of notes’
According to Das, he did not understand the conspiracy hatched by Soni at that time. When Das was about to leave Dubai, Sony’s associates gave him an Apple phone to talk to Sony. He was told that a black Innova car had been booked for him which would take him from Raipur Airport to Trident Hotel and his room would also be booked in advance. When he reached the hotel, he received a call instructing him to collect the money. The person on the other end instructed him to go to the side of the road and open the car door. After a few minutes, a bike rider came with a bag full of notes and kept the cash on the back seat of the Innova car.
Das said- As soon as he entered the room the officers came
Das said the bike rider also gave him a phone and was asked to use that phone for further conversation. A few minutes later, several more bags were placed in the back seat of the car. He was told to park the car full of cash in the hotel premises and then go to his room. Das has also alleged in the letter that ED officials along with Subham Soni were also involved in framing him. According to his allegations, when he reached his hotel room, after some time an ED officer also came there and said that everything had been recovered. The officer asked him to come with him to sign the statement and told him that his statement had already been prepared.
Das demanded recovery of CCTV footage
According to Das, he along with the officer went to the parking lot where two more ED officers were present. They forcibly took his signature on his statement and confiscated the cash he had received a few minutes earlier. He told that he got this cash from Sony to start his business. However, they did not listen to him and he was arrested. Das demanded a probe and asked that his call data records (CDR) be recovered to clarify how he received instructions to collect the cash. Apart from this, he has also demanded recovery of CCTV footage from the road to identify the biker who delivered the cash.

Das believes that by doing this the truth will come out. He has also requested for investigation of the video clip received on his Apple phone, which already contained the video of Subham Soni. According to Das, after entering jail, he was surprised to read the news related to himself in the newspaper. Das alleges that it was falsely claimed in the newspapers that he was bringing the seized cash to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. He said that he denies this. Das believes that he is being framed as part of a larger conspiracy.
