Jharkhand CM gives green signal to caste based survey, know when the survey will start – India TV Hindi

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has given the green signal to caste-based survey in the state on the lines of neighboring state Bihar. CM Champai Soren has indicated this. He has also made a post on X. A senior official on Sunday informed about getting the green signal for caste based survey in the state. The official said the Chief Minister has directed the Department of Personnel to prepare a draft (standard operating procedure for the survey) and place it before the Cabinet for approval. He said that if everything goes as per plan, the exercise will start after the Lok Sabha elections.

Hinting about the survey, CM Champai Soren made a post on social media platform ‘X’. Posting on Twitter, CM Soren wrote, “The greater the number, the greater the stake. Jharkhand is ready.” Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Vinay Kumar Choubey said, “The Personnel Department will prepare a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for conducting the (caste-based) survey in Jharkhand. It will be placed before the Cabinet for approval.” He said the caste-based survey would be conducted on the lines of neighboring state Bihar, where data was collected between January 7 and October 2 last year.

Principal Secretary gave information

Principal Secretary to CM Vinay Kumar Choubey said that several departments including rural and social welfare were considered, but the Personnel Department was finally selected for the survey. The MLAs of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-Congress-RJD government in Jharkhand were demanding a caste-based survey in the state. He also raised the demand in the state assembly several times. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had also advocated caste-based enumeration during the Jharkhand leg of ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in the first week of this month. Rahul Gandhi had promised to remove the nationwide caste-based enumeration and 50 percent cap on reservation if the opposition alliance ‘India’ forms the government at the Center after the Lok Sabha elections.
