Jharkhand: More than 100 tribal children in CM’s area suffering from brain and PV malaria, administration woke up after seven deaths.

Ranchi: More than 100 children have been found infected with brain malaria and plasmodium malaria in six villages of Sundarpahari block in Godda district of Jharkhand. All the infected belong to a primitive tribal community called Pahadia. After the death of seven children and identification of a large number of infected people in the last one week, the health department and the district administration have started an intensive checking campaign. Also, the Commissioner of Santhal Pargana and the Deputy Commissioner of the district visited the affected areas and took information about the situation.

Camp organized in 16 villages

Let us tell you that this area comes under Barhet, the constituency of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. On Wednesday and Thursday, a camp has been organized for mass survey of the disease in 16 villages of the block. Medicines, medicated mosquito nets and medical kits are being provided to the affected people. A total of 15 medical teams have been formed for the campaign. A total of 233 patients were examined in the camps set up in these villages on Wednesday. Of these, 88 were found infected with brain malaria. Symptoms of PV (Plasmodium) malaria were found in eight children. Many patients have been identified on Thursday also. The information about the spread of the disease in the villages was first given to the district administration by Sanjay Kisku of the World Tribal Akhil Abhon Organization.

Seven children died

According to the organization’s information, five children have died in Jolo and Bairago villages from November 14 to November 21, while two children have also lost their lives due to the disease in Dando and Sarmi. The age of all the deceased was less than 10 years. The most infected have been found in villages like Jolo, Bairago, Sarmi, Sidler, Dando, Tilaypada etc. It has been told that according to the age group of the patients, anti-malaria medicines were given to children as well as elders. Prophylaxis medicines were also given to those who did not have symptoms of malaria. Financial assistance is being provided to malaria affected people for nutritious food under the Chief Minister Health Assistance Scheme.
