Manipur: Curfew relaxed in 5 districts of the valley, 4 villagers were murdered

Curfew relaxed in 5 districts of Manipur

Imphal: Curfew has been relaxed in 5 districts of Manipur. The Manipur government has announced relaxation in the curfew imposed in five districts of Imphal Valley. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. According to an official notification, restrictions have been relaxed in Thoubal, Imphal East and Imphal West and Kakching districts on Wednesday from 5 am to 10 pm, while in Bishnupur the curfew will be relaxed from 5 am to 9 pm.

4 villagers were murdered on Monday

Four villagers were shot dead in Thoubal district on Monday evening. “Due to the improving law and order situation, there is a need to ease restrictions on movement to facilitate the general public in purchasing essential commodities,” the notification said. However, this relaxation will not be applicable to any assembly/mass agitation/demonstration and rallies of persons without obtaining approval from the competent authority.’

Four villagers were shot dead by members of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Manipur’s minority-dominated Lilong Chingjao area on Monday evening. He said the incident was being seen as a result of a dispute over money collected from drug trafficking. Two other seriously injured people are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in Imphal, officials said. (input language)
