Rajnath Singh and S Jaishankar will lead India

US Secretary of State Blinken has been very busy diplomatically for the past few weeks due to the Israel-Hamas war that started last month. Blinken and US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin are in Delhi to participate in foreign and defense ministerial talks. The objective of this dialogue is to advance the future roadmap of India and US relations for deeper strategic cooperation. The Indian delegation in the talks will be led by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Topics like strategy, defense and technology will be discussed

The Defense Ministry said that many strategic, defense and technology related issues are expected to be discussed in the ‘two plus two’ talks and the bilateral meeting between Rajnath and Austin. The Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday that the ‘two plus two’ dialogue will allow a high-level review of progress in defense and security cooperation, technology value chain cooperation and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Exchange of ideas will take place through Quad

The ministry said in a statement that ‘Ministers will get an opportunity to take forward the blueprint for the future of India-US partnership envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden in their discussions in June and September this year.’ The statement said that both sides will also take stock of contemporary regional issues and exchange views on shared priorities to enhance cooperation through multilateral fora and frameworks such as Quad (Quaternary Security Dialogue).
