The central government has taken a big decision to provide free electricity to the people of the country. On Thursday, Modi Cabinet has approved PM-Surya Ghar: Free Bidli Scheme. Let us tell you that the aim of this ambitious plan of PM Modi is to install solar panels on the roofs of one crore houses in the country. Through this scheme, the use of solar energy will be promoted in the country from urban to panchayat areas.

What is the specialty of the scheme?

With the help of the Central Government’s free electricity scheme, free solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of 1 crore houses in the country. With this, people will get 300 units of free electricity every month. This will free people from huge electricity bills. Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed on Thursday that the Central Government will bear a total expenditure of Rs 75,021 crore under the PM-Surya Ghar Scheme.

PM Modi also gave information

PM Modi had also shared information about the free electricity scheme a few days ago. He had said that to popularize the scheme at the grassroots level, urban local bodies and panchayats would be encouraged to promote rooftop solar systems (solar energy on rooftops) in their jurisdiction. He had said that this scheme will generate more income for the people, lower electricity bills and employment generation.

How will you be able to apply?

To promote solar energy and sustainable progress, PM Modi had urged all residential consumers, especially the youth, to strengthen the PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme by applying at pmsuryaghar.gov.in. He had also said that from substantial subsidies given directly into people’s bank accounts to heavily concessional bank loans, the central government will ensure that there is no cost burden on the people. He had said that all stakeholders will be integrated with a national online portal which will further enhance convenience.
