PM Modi gave ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ slogan in Tuticorin – India TV Hindi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated 36 infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 17,000 crore at the VO Chidambaranar Port in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The program is organized by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways; and jointly organized by the Railways. This program will focus on strengthening transport infrastructure and maritime capabilities across Tamil Nadu.

During his address, PM Modi emphasized the importance of these projects in taking forward the country’s development agenda. Emphasizing on the spirit of ‘One India, Best India’ prevalent through these initiatives, he explained the role of these projects in realizing the dream of a developed India. “These projects are an important part of the roadmap for a developed India. The spirit of ‘One India, Best India’ can also be seen in these developments,” PM Modi said after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of several development works in Tamil.

Empowering communities and promoting development

The project inaugurated by PM Modi covers multiple sectors including infrastructure, healthcare and education. These developments are set to empower local communities and boost economic growth in the region.

Highlights of today’s inauguration

PM Modi unveiled three categories of projects – foundation, national project and inauguration – worth over Rs 10,324 crore, Rs 1,477 crore and Rs 4,586 crore respectively.

Green Initiatives and Hydrogen Fuel

PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Outer Harbor Container Terminal Project and inaugurate VOC Port as India’s leading green hydrogen hub.

Green Tug Transition Program (GTTP)

GTTP aims to convert at least 50 per cent of all tugs into green tugs by 2030, with the major port set to purchase two brand new green tugs from Cochin Shipyard by 2027.

Transformative development in port

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted the commendable transformation in port capacity in the last decade, with doubling of throughput and significant reduction in turnaround time.

Sagarmala Programme: Advancing Port Modernization

Most of the port modernization projects to be inaugurated tomorrow come under the Sagarmala programme, in which 98 projects worth Rs 93,671 crore are being undertaken in Tamil Nadu.

Promoting coastal communities and skill development

With funding support for fishing harbor projects and emphasis on maritime skill development, initiatives like Sagarmala have played a significant role in the upliftment of coastal communities.

Eastern Sea Corridor: Enhancing Connectivity

The Eastern Sea Corridor from Chennai to Vladivostok, Russia promises to significantly reduce travel time and distance in cargo transportation, thereby promoting stronger ties between India and the Russian Far East.

promote cruise tourism

Tamil Nadu is making rapid progress in cruise tourism, including initiatives such as Cordelia Cruises to Sri Lanka and upcoming domestic cruises aimed at increasing cruise passenger numbers and economic potential.

Inauguration of railway and road projects

PM Modi will also hand over railway and road projects worth Rs 1,477 crore and Rs 4,586 crore respectively to further enhance the transport infrastructure in Tamil Nadu.

ISRO project launched

Prime Minister Modi will also launch ISRO projects worth Rs 986 crore, which will show the government’s commitment towards space exploration and innovation.
