Itanagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated projects worth Rs 55,600 crore in the North-East states. These plans also include the strategically important Sela Tunnel. This tunnel will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. Let us tell you that during a program in Itanagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of many projects in the North-East states – Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh.
Easy connectivity to China border
According to a statement, Sela Tunnel has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 825 crore. This tunnel is a miracle of engineering. It will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang via Sela Pass on Balipara-Charidwar-Tawang Road in Arunachal Pradesh. Prime Minister Modi had laid the foundation of this project in February 2019. This tunnel will not only provide faster and more efficient transportation routes in the region but is also of strategic importance for the country due to its location near the border with China. Apart from this, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Sela Tunnel by flagging off a bus of Arunachal Pradesh State Transport. This bus passed through this tunnel.
Other projects also started
Overall, PM Modi launched development projects worth more than Rs 41,000 crore in Arunachal Pradesh. He also laid the foundation stone of Dibang Multipurpose Hydroelectric Project in Lower Dibang Valley district, which will be built at a cost of Rs 31,875 crore. This will be the largest dam in the country. Along with this, PM Modi also laid the foundation of many roads construction, environment and tourism projects and projects to upgrade schools. Let us tell you that before this, PM Modi had gone to Kaziranga National Park in Assam, where he rode an elephant. PM Modi is going to visit 4 states today.
