Kharge posted on

He said, “India and Bangladesh are civilizational, cultural and socio-economically linked. Our relations date back to the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and our leader Indira Gandhi laid the foundation of our deep bilateral relations that symbolize sovereignty, equality, trust and consensus that go beyond a strategic partnership.

Opposition parties had boycotted the elections

Hasina’s party Awami League has won the general elections for the fourth consecutive time. The main opposition party Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its allies had boycotted the election. According to media reports, Hasina-led Awami League won 223 seats in the 300-seat Parliament. Elections were held on 299 seats due to the death of one candidate. Voting on this seat will take place later.

Sheikh Hasina has been in power since 2009

Hasina has been in power since 2009 and her party has won for the fourth consecutive time in a one-sided election. The important thing is that this is the second time since the restoration of democracy in 1991 that the turnout was the lowest.
