There is a word in that verse, medhyan. The meaning of this word is meat, but I want to tell Jitendra Awhad that this word also means root of tuber and pulp of fruits. This word has been used in the same sense in many other verses. Apart from this, Awhad should also read that part of Sundar Kand in Valmiki Ramayana, in which there is a dialogue of Hanuman ji with Mother Sita. There is 41st verse of 36th canto, in which Mother Sita asks Hanuman ji about the condition of Lord Ram and Hanuman ji answers. It is said that Lord Ram eats only once a day, he consumes only tuberous roots found in the forest. There are many such accounts in Valmiki’s Ramayana, but Awhad picked a word from one of the thirty-three thousand verses and described Maryada Purushottam as a non-vegetarian, that is why he is being criticized.
Even the saints are hurt by his words. Ramlala’s chief priest Acharya Satyendra Das also said that it is written in every scripture that during his exile, Lord Ram had survived by eating tubers and roots, there is no mention of non-vegetarian food anywhere. Jitendra Awhad made a mistake, he realizes his mistake but is still not ready to accept his mistake. He expressed regret but also said that what he said was right, so his regret has no meaning. Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray understand that Jitendra Awhad’s poisonous tongue will harm the entire alliance. That is why no leader from NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena stood in his support. Jitendra Awhad also knows that Hindus are generous, in Sanatan, forgiving the wrongdoer is said to be the most courageous act. Here Jitendra Awhad will be forgiven but people can ask Awhad whether he has the courage to say such things about the symbols of any religion other than Hindu Gods and if he had said such things about any other religion. Would he have been saved just by apologizing like this? But the problem is that nowadays the leaders of the opposition parties are saying such wrong things about the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in the Ram temple.
