Shimla: A huge upset has been seen in the Rajya Sabha elections of Himachal Pradesh. BJP has claimed that their candidate Harsh Mahajan has won this election. Congress’s Abhishek Manu Singhvi has lost. Both the candidates got 34-34 votes. BJP has claimed victory through toss.

What is the whole matter?

The election for Himachal Pradesh Rajya Sabha seat was stuck. In fact, both BJP and Congress candidates got 34-34 votes out of 68 MLAs. BJP polling agent is adamant on the demand of canceling the vote of ailing Congress MLA Sudarshan Bablu, who was brought for voting through helicopter, as a violation of the code of conduct.

Then the matter was sent to the Election Commission of India. In which the lottery was drawn and there was victory.

CM Sukhu made serious allegations

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday alleged that 5 to 6 Congress MLAs were abducted and taken away in a convoy of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Haryana Police.

He also said that the families of these MLAs are trying to contact them (MLAs). The allegation came hours after voting ended for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from the state amid ongoing concerns in the ruling Congress over ‘cross voting’ (voting outside the party whip). Sukhu told reporters here that the BJP is indulging in hooliganism, which is not good for democracy.
