New Delhi: The Congress high command has rejected the invitation to Ram Temple, after which voices of dissatisfaction have started being heard in the party. Many senior Congress leaders have started openly protesting against the decision of rejecting the invitation. First of all, Acharya Pramod Krishnam called the decision suicidal for the Congress, now former Gujarat Congress President and Porbandar MLA Arjun Modhwadia has also raised questions on the decision of the Congress high command. Modhwadia has said that this is a matter of faith and trust of the countrymen. Congress should have stayed away from taking such political decisions.
Gujarat Congress working president Ambrish Der has also advised the high command that they should respect public sentiments. As a damage control, Digvijay Singh has raised questions on the process of consecration in Ram temple and said that it is not being done as per the Shankaracharyas, BJP is insulting them.

The top leadership of Congress has rejected the invitation for the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. It has been made clear that former Congress President Sonia Gandhi, current Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, none of them will go to Ayodhya on January 22. The three leaders took more than two weeks to take this decision.
According to the letter issued by the party’s General Secretary and Communication Chief Jairam Ramesh,- “Last month, Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi and Congress Party leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhary were invited to attend the inauguration ceremony of Ram Temple to be held in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. Received an invitation. Crores of Indians worship Lord Ram. Religion has been a personal matter of man, but over the years BJP and RSS have made Ram temple in Ayodhya a political project. It is clear that a half-built temple is being inaugurated only to gain electoral benefits. Accepting the decision of the Honorable Supreme Court of 2019 and respecting the faith of the people, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Adhir Ranjan Choudhary respectfully reject the invitation of BJP and RSS for this event.

The Congress high command rejected the invitation to Ayodhya but this has created a wave of dissatisfaction within the party. Party leaders have started giving statements, sometimes in hushed tones and sometimes openly, against this decision. Among them is Congress supporter Acharya Pramod Krishnam, senior Congress leader from Gujarat Arjun Modhwadia. The working president of Gujarat Congress is Ambrish Der. All of them are angry with the decision of the high command. This decision of the Congress High Command has been openly opposed by former Gujarat Congress President and current Porbandar MLA Arjun Modhwadia. Arjun Modhwadia writes on social media post – Lord Shri Ram is an adorable god. This is a matter of faith and belief of the countrymen. Congress should have stayed away from taking such political decisions.

Ambrish Der, working president of Gujarat Congress, has written – “Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram is our worshipable deity, hence it is natural that the faith of countless people across India has been attached to this newly constructed temple for years. Some people of Congress should maintain distance from that particular kind of statement and respect the public sentiment wholeheartedly. Such statements are disappointing for many Gujarat Congress workers like me. Hail Siya Ram”

From Gujarat to UP, Congress started hearing voices against its own party’s line. UP Congress President Ajay Rai tried his best to ensure that the party does not appear anti-Ram, so he announced the darshan on January 15 instead of January 22. While the Congress high command is rejecting the invitation to Ayodhya, in MP, Nakul Nath, son of former CM Kamal Nath, is engaged in a campaign which is not according to the party line. While releasing the video, Nakul Nath wrote, “Chhindwara is going to create history by writing 4 crore 31 lakh names of Ram.” Today in the same sequence, former Chief Minister along with respected Kamal Nath ji reached Simaria Hanuman Temple and wrote Ram’s name in the leaflet. I appeal to all of you to participate in this historical work and earn virtuous benefits.” Both Kamal Nath and Nakul Nath are seen in this video.
‘The intelligence of Congress leaders has become corrupt’
When Congress started pointing fingers at the high command’s decision to reject the invitation to Ayodhya, Digvijay Singh came forward for damage control. Digvijay Singh not only adopted the strategy of defence, but also tried to turn the tide of the controversy. Digvijay said that Ram temple is being built with our donations. Our Shankaracharya is being insulted. He also said that the life of the incomplete temple is being insulted.
First CPM, then Akhilesh Yadav and now Congress have clearly rejected the invitation to Ayodhya. This has given BJP an opportunity to be the attacker. Union Minister Smriti Irani said that the intellect of Congress leaders has become corrupt, so Manoj Tiwari advised Sonia Gandhi to sing Ram Bhajan. Amidst the attack by BJP, many Congress leaders are avoiding speaking openly on this issue.
