New Delhi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday presented his government’s budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the Karnataka Assembly. The state government is embroiled in controversies after the presentation of the budget in the Assembly. After the budget, it started being opposed by the opposition MLAs in the Assembly itself and now it is being called a Congress appeasement budget. The reason behind this is that the Siddaramaiah government has made many big announcements for the Waqf Board and Christians in its budget, whereas no specific amount has been mentioned in the budget regarding Hindu temples.

Government announced construction of Haj Bhavan in Mangalore

The Karnataka government has made a provision of Rs 100 crore in its budget for Waqf properties. At the same time, a provision of Rs 200 crore has been made for the Christian community and Rs 20 crore for other religious places. Apart from this, it has also been announced to build a grand Haj Bhawan at a cost of Rs 10 crore which will be built in Mangalore. A large number of announcements have been made in this budget for minority communities, especially Muslims and Christians. For this reason, during the budget in the Karnataka Assembly, the opposition parties accused the Congress government of appeasement.

Temples contribute Rs 450 crore annually to the government treasury.

The surprising thing is that the Congress government of Karnataka has made a provision of Rs 330 crore for Waqf property and Christian community in its budget, but there is no mention of any kind in the budget for the Hindu community. Is. Let us tell you that Karnataka is a state where the average annual donation given by Hindu devotees from around 400 temples of ‘A and B’ i.e. big and small category controlled by the Muzrai (Hindu Religious Endowment) Department is Rs 450 crore to the government. Goes to the treasury.

Siddaramaiah wants Hindu temples under government control

Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah government has been opposing any bill to free Hindu temples from state control. Along with this, despite so much money going into the government treasury every year from Hindu temples, the government has not made any provision in the budget for the development of these temples or anything else.
