Clash again between farmers and police.

Thousands of farmers moving from Punjab towards Delhi have been stopped by Haryana Police at Shambhu border near Ambala. There was violence between farmers and police for the first two days, but after that there was peace due to talks between the government and farmer organizations. However, on Friday, once again the farmers tried to move towards the barrier at the Shambhu border, after which the police again fired tear gas shells to disperse them.

Farmers have been stopped at these places

The protesting farmers of Punjab had called for Delhi Chalo March. Farmers did not face much problem in movement within Punjab but they were stopped at the Haryana border. The protesting farmers are stuck at Shambhu and Khanauri, two points on the state border with Haryana. There were clashes between farmers and Haryana Police personnel on the first two days of the protest.

Next meeting will be held on Sunday

The third round of talks between farmers and the central government has also failed. Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal and Nityanand Rai attended this meeting held in Chandigarh on behalf of the Central Government. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also participated. The meeting continued till 1:30 in the night but no solution could be reached. Now the next meeting of both the sides will be held on Sunday.

What are the demands of the farmers:

  • Legal guarantee of MSP
  • Pension facility and crop insurance
  • Swaminathan Commission report should be implemented
  • Farmers’ loans should be waived immediately
  • Electricity Act 2020 should be repealed
  • Cases registered during protests in 2020 removed
  • Justice to the victims of Lakhimpur violence
