Uttarakhand: Curfew relaxed in Banbhulpura, Haldwani, internet service not restored yet – India TV Hindi

Nainital (Uttarakhand): Curfew has been temporarily relaxed in Banbhulpura of Haldwani city. Curfew was imposed in Banbhulpura following violence that broke out following the demolition of an illegal structure on February 8. However, night curfew will continue from 8 pm to 6 am in Gaujajali, FSI, warehouse areas. Night curfew will continue from 5 pm to 6 am in the remaining areas under Banbhulpura police station. Internet service has not been restored yet.

Curfew was imposed after the violence on 8 February

There were incidents of stone pelting after the anti-encroachment campaign on February 8. The mob also set vehicles on fire. The police station at Banbhulpura was also surrounded by the mob. Seeing the situation going out of control, the administration imposed curfew and also issued shoot-at-sight orders. Meanwhile, yesterday Additional Director General (ADG) Administration Amit Sinha reached the violence site in Banbhulpura and took stock of the newly established police post. He reviewed the security arrangements in the area.

Look out notice issued against main conspirator

Look out notice has been issued against Abdul Malik and his son Abdul Moeed, the main accused in Haldwani violence. Police said on Friday that five more rioters have also been arrested in connection with the violence. With the fresh arrests, the total number of rioters arrested in connection with the incidents of stone pelting and arson that followed the demolition of a madrassa in the city on February 8 has reached 42, police said. Malik had built the madrasa and strongly opposed its demolition. He is said to be the main conspirator of the clashes.

Posters of nine ‘wanted rioters’, including Abdul Malik and his son, have also been pasted at various places in the city and the public has been requested to share any information about them with the police. Apart from Malik and his son, those who are wanted by the police include Tasleem, Wasim, Ayaz, Raees, Shakeel Ansari, Maukeen and Zia Ul Rehman. Police said that its team is raiding all possible places to catch the miscreants.

Earlier on Thursday, the authorities had relaxed curfew for different periods in Banbhulpura area of ​​the city. Violence broke out in the area on February 8 after the demolition of an illegally built madrassa in Banbhulpura. Local residents had pelted stones and thrown petrol bombs at municipal corporation personnel and police, forcing several policemen to take shelter in a police station which was later set on fire by the mob. According to police, six people were killed and more than 100 people, including police and journalists, were injured in the violence. (input language)
