Hemant Soren resigning to the Governor during ED custody
New Delhi/Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief and former Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been arrested by ED after a long interrogation. Soren’s arrest has been strongly condemned by opposition parties. Condemning the arrest of Hemant Soren, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that ED, CBI and other departments including Income Tax are no longer government agencies. Now it has become BJP’s ‘eliminate opposition cell’. The BJP itself, steeped in corruption, is running a campaign to destroy democracy in its obsession with power.
Congress says BJP is tearing apart the federal structure
On the action of ED, India Alliance has accused the Central Government and BJP of killing democracy. Mallikarjun Kharge, national president of the main opposition party Congress, said on the X handle late on Wednesday night that any leader who did not go with PM Modi will go to jail. To impose ED on Hemant Soren and force him to resign from the post of Chief Minister is to destroy the federal structure.
BJP is destabilizing opposition governments: Kharge
Mallikarjun Kharge said that using the provisions of PMLA as a weapon to intimidate and threaten opposition leaders is part of the BJP’s toolkit. He alleged that BJP is working to destabilize the opposition governments one by one as part of a conspiracy. Whatever went into the BJP washing machine, its corruption was washed away. The one who did not go is tainted. If democracy has to be saved from dictatorship then BJP will have to be defeated. We will not be afraid, we will keep fighting from Parliament to the streets.
BJP has destroyed the federal structure: Congress
On ED’s action against Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Congress leader Subodh Kant Sahay said, is BJP’s corruption not corruption? BJP’s policy and intentions cannot be discussed now. BJP has destroyed the federal structure. Meanwhile, Congress MLA Deepika Pandey Singh said that we were called to the ED office and given time. After that we were insulted and asked to leave from there. Raj Bhavan is working as an agent of BJP.
Condemnation of arrest of Hemant Soren
Apart from Congress, other constituent parties of India Alliance have also strongly condemned the arrest of Hemant Soren. The alliance has said that BJP and the central government are using ED to intimidate the opposition parties. ED action continues against opposition leaders due to fear of possible defeat in Lok Sabha elections.
