New Delhi: Invitations have been sent to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and party leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhary to attend the consecration ceremony to be organized in the grand Ram temple being built in Ayodhya. These leaders have been invited for the consecration ceremony to be held on January 22. Sources said that Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has sent them an invitation but these senior Congress leaders are not likely to attend the function.

Invitations have been sent personally to Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. Former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda have also been invited for the ceremony. Sources said that a delegation of people associated with the trust gave these invitations and invitations are likely to be sent to other opposition leaders also in the coming days.

The Trust said that apart from the revered saints of different traditions, invitations have been extended to all the prominent persons who have brought glory to the country in different fields. The trust said a ‘tent city’ has been set up in the new Tirtha Kshetra Puram (Bagh Bijaisi) with six tube wells, six kitchens and a 10-bed hospital. About 150 doctors from across the country have agreed to provide their services in this hospital on rotation basis. The trust has said that around 4,000 saints from various sects have been invited to participate in the celebrations.

Advani, Joshi also invited

Vishwa Hindu Parishad working president Alok Kumar said that he has invited senior BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi to attend the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya next month. Kumar said in a statement that both Advani and Joshi have said they will make “every possible effort” to attend the ceremony on January 22.

A day earlier, the Ram Mandir Trust on Monday had said that Advani and Joshi, who led the Ram temple movement in Ayodhya, are unlikely to attend the Pran Pratishtha ceremony to be held next month due to their health and age-related reasons. Presenting the detailed list of invitees during a press conference in Ayodhya, Ram Mandir Trust general secretary Champat Rai had said Advani and Joshi were unlikely to attend the consecration ceremony due to health and age-related reasons. VHP working president Kumar said in a statement, “Lal Krishna Advani ji and Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi ji, leaders of the Ram Mandir movement, have been invited to attend the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha program on January 22, 2024 in Ayodhya.” Kumar said, “Both the seniors said that they will make every possible effort to attend the event.” Advani is 96 years old, while Joshi will turn 90 next month.
