The year 2023 is going to end in a few days. Many big incidents have been seen this year in the country and the world. From elections to Chandrayaan landing and various announcements of Modi government, this year attracted the people of India a lot. Reservation to women (Nari Shakti Vandan Act)

The Modi government at the Center inaugurated the country’s new Parliament building by giving representation to women in politics. On September 19, 2023, ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Bill’ was introduced in the Lok Sabha with the aim of giving 33 percent reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies. This bill was introduced in both the houses and passed almost unanimously. President Draupadi Murmu also assent to the bill thereby making it a law. However, census and delimitation will be done before implementing the women’s reservation law. Opposition parties have also expressed objection to these conditions.

Reduction in cylinder rate by Rs 200

At the end of August, the Modi government at the Center had made a big cut in the rate of domestic gas cylinder by Rs 200. The government had described these women as a Rakshabandhan gift. The people taking advantage of the Ujjwala scheme benefited the most. Earlier they used to get a discount of Rs 200 on the cylinder. After this, with additional discount of Rs 200, this amount reached Rs 400. Women got a lot of relief from this step of the Central Government.

Taking a big decision, the Modi government at the Center has again extended the free ration scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY). Now people are going to get the benefit of free ration scheme for the coming 5 years. A total of 81 crore people across the country are going to benefit from this decision. All people will get 5 kg of food grains for free by the year 2028. The Government of India will spend Rs 11 lakh 80 thousand crore in this.

The G20 summit was organized from 7 to 9 November 2023 in the capital of India, New Delhi. It is said to be one of the most successful events ever. The launch of ‘India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor’ (IMEC) was also announced in the G20. With the help of this corridor, trade from Asia to the Middle East and Europe will become easier. Let us tell you that India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, European Union, France, Italy, Germany and America are included in this project.

Vishwakarma scheme announced

On 15 August 2023, PM Modi announced the launch of Vishwakarma Yojana with Rs 13 thousand crore from the Red Fort on the day of Vishwakarma Jayanti. The full name of this scheme is Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana. Under this scheme, artisans and handicraft workers will get Vishwakarma certificate and identity card. Workers will get interest free loan up to Rs 1 lakh and in the second phase they will get loan of Rs 2 lakh at the rate of 5%. Artisans will also be trained under Vishwakarma Scheme. It is expected that a total of 30 lakh families will benefit under this scheme in the coming 5 years.

India’s space station by 2035

On 23rd of August, India’s Chandrayaan-3 created history by landing on the southern part of the Moon. After this, India also launched the first Sun mission – Aditya L-1. After this, PM Modi has instructed ISRO to prepare India’s own space station by the year 2035. Along with this, the PM has also directed to make preparations to send an Indian man to the Moon by 2040. India is going to become a big space power through these missions.

Purchase of weapons under self-reliant India

Many important steps have been taken to promote the Self-reliant India campaign in the defense sector. Under this, recently approval has been given for the purchase of 97 Tejas aircraft and 150 Prachanda helicopters. Apart from this, the government has also given in-principle approval for the purchase of the third aircraft carrier for the Indian Navy. Its cost is estimated to be around Rs 40,000 crore.

Reservation for Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly

The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill, 2023 were introduced in Parliament. In the first bill, it has been said to reserve 3 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly for Kashmiri Pandits and people displaced from PoK. The second bill talks about reservation for the deprived and OBC classes. Let us tell you that out of 3 seats, 1 seat will be reserved for a woman and one for a citizen displaced from POK.

Rs 2000 notes out of circulation
On May 19, 2023, the Reserve Bank of India had announced to remove the Rs 2000 note from circulation. RBI had provided facilities to exchange these notes in nearby banks and regional offices of RBI. Let us tell you that after the demonetization of 2016, Rs 2000 notes came into existence. RBI had announced to remove these big notes from circulation under the clean note policy.
