First we will take a gourd. We will wash it thoroughly and peel it. Now we will cut it into small pieces. Add a pinch of cumin and chilli to 1 spoon of ghee. After that now add chopped bottle gourd pieces to it. When the bottle gourd pieces become a little soft, mix soaked gram in it and also add garam masala. Now let the vegetable cook on medium flame. When the gourd is completely melted then garnish it with coriander. Light 2 lamps in front of the picture of Chhath Maiya and offer gourd vegetable and bhata (rice) to the goddess.
