Jasprit Bumrah
The Indian team is currently playing a 5-match Test series against England on home soil, in the first two matches of which Team India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has seen a brilliant performance. Bumrah has now taken 15 wickets in his name including both the matches. Bumrah played an important role in the victory of the Indian team in the second test match of the series played on the grounds of Visakhapatnam. At the same time, former head coach of Team India, Ravi Shastri has now revealed in a statement that Bumrah was also eager to play Test cricket in his early career. In the year 2016, Bumrah got a chance to debut in the limited overs format, but he had to wait for almost 2 years to make a place in the Test team.

Ravi Shastri, in an interview given to former England team captain Michael Atherton, who writes for The Times, said about Bumrah that I remember my first conversation with him in Kolkata in which I had asked him if he was interested in Test cricket? Then he said that this would be the biggest day of his life. Shastri further said that without asking him, he was declared a white ball expert. But I knew and wanted to see how much hunger he has to play Test. I told him to be ready. I told him I was going to feed him in South Africa. He was desperate to play Test cricket with Virat Kohli. He knows that no one remembers the average of the white ball. People will always remember your numbers only in Test cricket.
Kohli recognized as an uncut diamond
In his statement, Ravi Shastri further said that Virat Kohli also had a lot of individual talent but I wanted to see the talent of the team. I wanted to win and make Test cricket supreme and I recognized Virat Kohli as a ‘uncut diamond’. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the captain and my eyes were on Kohli. I told him at the beginning of my second month that it will take time but be ready for captaincy. Kohli was completely busy with Test cricket. He was passionate. He was willing to work hard and play hard cricket, which matched my way of thinking. When you play against Australia or Pakistan, you should have one player who does not complain and does not make any excuses.
