Prime Minister Netanyahu has been shocked by the recent death of 21 Israeli soldiers in the Gaza war. He has refused to accept the two-state solution and stop the war against Hamas terrorists. Due to this, the danger of intensification of Western conflict has increased more than before. The United Nations has expressed fear of danger of unrest in the world due to this. This has created an uproar. UN chief Antonio Guterres warned Israel on Tuesday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of a two-state solution would surely escalate the conflict, which is already threatening global peace and emboldening extremists everywhere. “The creation of a fully independent state is the right of the Palestinian people and must be recognized by all,” Guterres told a UN Security Council ministerial meeting in his strongest language yet on the Israel-Hamas war.

The United Nations said that anyone’s refusal to accept the two-state solution must be strongly rejected. He said, “The lack of true freedom, rights and dignity for such a large number of Palestinians is a – The alternative to a national solution is unimaginable.” Referring to Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Pakistan, the UN chief also warned that the risk of conflict spillovering regionally is ”now becoming a reality.” He urged all parties to exercise restraint. Netanyahu’s refusal to accept any vision of a post-war Palestinian state has driven a wedge between Israel and its closest nation, the United States.

America said this

America says that there should be talks towards a two-state solution where Israel and Palestine can live together in peace. Many countries have supported this. Guterres also reiterated his pending demand for a humanitarian ceasefire. Many countries want that the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas should be stopped on humanitarian grounds so that food, water and medicines etc. can be supplied to the needy. But Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilard Erdan, rejected the ceasefire, saying Hamas was bent on re-attacking and destroying Israel and that stopping fighting would allow militants to “regroup and obtain weapons.” He urged the Security Council to “destroy the roots” of the conflict. Erdan says that the root of the conflict is Iran. (AP)
