Just hours after the US-China conference, President Joe Biden has launched a major attack on Chinese President Xi Jinping. A day before this, presidential level talks were held in San Francisco on November 15 to improve relations between America and China. In this bilateral strategic dialogue, Biden and Xi Jinping discussed many global and regional issues. Besides, an attempt was also made to melt the ice in the tense relations between China and America. Even after the meeting, Biden had described the talks with Jinping as positive for both the countries. But now after a few hours, Biden’s stance has changed again.

US President Joe Biden once again called Chinese President Xi Jinping a “dictator”. Whereas both the leaders had met a day earlier in San Francisco on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit (APEC). Biden had made a similar statement about Xi earlier this year. When reminded about this, he told reporters, “Look, he is (a dictator).” Biden said, “I mean, he is a dictator in the sense that he is the person leading a country that It is a communist country and run by a government that is completely different from ours,” he said of the four-hour meeting. “We have made progress.”

Things may get worse again with China

After this statement by Biden, despite bilateral strategic talks with China, relations may deteriorate again instead of improving. In the year 2022 also, both the leaders had met face to face on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia in November. Biden had earlier compared Xi, 70, to dictators during a fund-raising event in California in June. Biden was discussing Xi’s response to the downing of a Chinese spy balloon by US warplanes over US airspace in February. However, Chinese officials then termed Biden’s statement as nonsense and provocation. Now Biden has again given a similar statement which may anger China again. (Language)
