Washington: US President Joe Biden is shocked by the attack on his soldiers in northern Iraq. He has ordered retaliatory strikes against Iran-backed militia groups after a drone strike in northern Iraq injured three US soldiers. National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said American soldiers were seriously injured in the attack on Monday. The Iran-backed militia ‘Kata’ib Hezbollah’ and its affiliated groups claimed responsibility for the attack.
Gave instructions to attack three places
The US President was informed about the attack on Monday, after which he ordered the US Defense Department Pentagon to adopt the option of retaliatory action. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and the national security team quickly made plans. Later, Biden directed strikes on three locations used by Kataib Hezbollah and its affiliated groups.
The attacks took place at around quarter to five on Tuesday morning
Following Biden’s instructions, the US attacked the positions of Iranian militia groups based in Iraq at around 4.45 am on Tuesday. Watson said, “There is no higher priority for President Joe Biden than the safety of American troops.” He said, “If these attacks continue, America will take action in its own way.”
America blamed Iran for the attacks
The latest attack on US troops follows increasing threats against US forces in the region following Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7. America has blamed Iran for all this. Thousands of US troops are still present in Iraq, training Iraqi forces and fighting the terrorist organization Islamic State. Hundreds of American soldiers are also fighting the Islamic State group in Syria. (input language)
