Indian Foreign Ministry’s big statement on India-Maldives relations

MEA: The Indian Foreign Ministry has given a big statement on the relations between India and Maldives. Also reacted to issues like terrorism, punishment of former marines in Qatar, Iran and Pakistan dispute. Speaking to the media on Thursday, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that it has already made its stand clear on terrorism and will not comment on the issue of Islamabad and Tehran.

On the issue of Maldives, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that whatever has been discussed between the two countries has been put forward through a press release. On the deployment of Indian aircraft, helicopters and troops in Maldives, he said both sides have discussed finding practical solutions. So things will move forward. The issues will be discussed in the next meeting of the core group soon.

Foreign Ministry said this on the punishment of former officials in Qatar

The spokesperson also spoke about the Qatari court commuting the death sentence of 8 former Indian Navy officers to life imprisonment. He told that our ambassador along with the embassy officials met the 8 arrested people. As we told you earlier that the legal team is looking at the aspect of appealing. They have to file this appeal within a period of 60 days. The matter is now in another court, on which the legal team will take a decision. We still have some time.

Foreign Ministry said this on violence in the Red Sea

Regarding the tension in the Red Sea, the External Affairs Ministry said, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar recently visited Iran to discuss the issue. You might have seen that when he was there, he gave a statement to the press. Violence and instability in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden were discussed. We are extremely concerned about the entire situation. It is an important trade route not only for India but for the world. So our interests are there. Which are being affected.
