When treasure is found, it is a surprise. Scientists have found one such treasure from a construction site in Japan. From here, scientists have found a treasure of not just one or two but 1 lakh ancient coins. This discovery has been made in Maebashi city, located 60 miles from Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
Coin more than two thousand years old found
Scientists found this treasure during excavations for the construction of a factory on the site. Investigation of ancient coins is ongoing. If reports are to be believed, only 334 coins have been examined so far. The oldest coin among these is from China. It is said that this coin is from 175 BC. While the most recent coin is from 1265 AD.
Coins were found in bundles, each bundle contained 100 coins.
The coins have been discovered in 1,060 bundles. Each bundle contained approximately 100 coins. It also included Banliang coins with Chinese inscriptions, which were generally minted in China around 2200 years ago. Ethan Segal, an associate professor of history at Michigan State University, said such coins were once found throughout Japan, especially in the medieval period (13th to 16th centuries).
