Leading strategic and policy experts from India, Australia and Britain called for working together to strengthen security in the Indo-Pacific region as part of the first Indo-Pacific summit here on Thursday. The day-long event was co-hosted by the High Commissions of India and Australia in partnership with the Council of Geostrategy and King’s College London. It is designed to help foster greater cooperation in the Indo-Pacific amid China’s growing power in the strategic region. Reflecting the close ties and shared interests between the partners, separate sessions of the conference were held at ‘India House’, ‘Australia House’ and King’s College London. Inaugurating the conference with Australian High Commissioner to the UK Stephen Smith, India’s High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami said, “The enduring commitment of India and Australia to promote the vision of a free, open and secure Indo-Pacific is the strength of our bilateral partnership. Is reflected in.” He said, “Today, our partnership is a clear testament to our collective responsibility in jointly shaping a region that is based on inclusivity, a rules-based order and mutual respect for sovereignty.

Australia and Britain will cooperate with India

Stephen Smith said, “The Indo-Pacific has never been a region of particular focus, whether in Australia, India or here in the UK. “This conference – uniquely organized by the two High Commissions – is an important opportunity to explore how regional security and economic dynamics are shaping the strategic environment within and beyond the Indo-Pacific.” From connectivity and maritime security to advanced technology cooperation, the conference explored how India, Australia and the UK can better cooperate in the Indo-Pacific region.
